Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the best auto dealer Internet marketing strategy?
A combination of search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click management (PPC), e-mail marketing and social media marketing is the most effective form of auto dealer Internet marketing.  These practices coupled with creative incentives and promotions can drive more traffic to your website and into your dealership.

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Search Engine Optimization or website optimization (also known as SEO and SEM) is the most efficient and cost-effective way to drive more consumers into your dealership.  All search engines determine which websites will appear in search results and the order they will appear in by using a complex mathematical formula.  SEO improves your score in the formula so your website ranks higher and is seen by more people looking for car dealerships in your area.

What is a better form of auto dealer Internet marketing – SEO or PPC?
Most dealerships will have a combination of SEO and PPC.  Search engine optimization is more cost-effective than PPC, however, PPC yields faster results.   Typically we suggest clients engage in a modest PPC campaign while we focus on optimizing their website in order to keep people visiting the site and learning more about what the dealership is offering.  Most of our auto dealership clients can eliminate their PPC campaign after 2 to 4 months.

How does your team get websites ranking better?
We know that when it comes to auto dealer Internet marketing the most important factor is where your website ranks for relevant searches.  We have assembled a very talented and successful team that uses legitimate, ethical search engine optimization (SEO) techniques that improve your score in the search engine algorithms so it ranks higher.

What are the most important factors for SEO?
There are a number of factors that go into the algorithm.  The most important factors at this time include:  website content (the text on your website);  website coding (the titles, tags and internal structure) and the number of websites that link to your website (the number and quality of those sites).  We focus our efforts on those three factors and others to maximize your results.

Can we really get our car dealership site on the first page of Google and Yahoo?
Absolutely.   We have been successful over the last ten years in getting websites onto the first page of Google, Yahoo and the other major search engines.  We have had clients get on page 1 after as little as 45 days.  Our clients are often astonished at our results and best of all they know we are using only ethical, non-SPAM techniques.

It is true that the larger your geographic area is the more competition there is and the longer it may take.  We know we can get you there and get more people into your car dealership.

How does Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC) work?
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising is different than search engine optimization (SEO).  SEO techniques will get your website listed in the "organic" or "natural listings" section of Google and the other search engines.  PPC (pay-per-click campaigns) will get your website in front of car buyers by putting an ad in the "sponsored ads" section of the search results.  When someone clicks on your pay-per-click ad you pay a fee to Google or whichever search engine the ad was placed on (typically Google and Yahoo). This will produce immediate targeted traffic but it is typically not cost-effective for long-term growth.

Useful Information

White Hat vs Black Hat Internet Marketing
Similar to movies about the wild west there is a difference between people using "black hat" and "white hat" techniques.  Black hat techniques are considered unethical and include SPAM techniques that can result in your website being banned from Google and the other search engines.  No auto dealership can survive if their website is banned.

Black hat techniques became popular with overseas service providers promising fast results with little recourse when the website is banned.   White Hat Marketing, as our name suggests, uses only ethical, proven techniques to improve your website ranking.

Consumers Equate Search Placements with Quality
Many consumers equate the placement of a website in search results with the quality of that dealership.  If they are looking for new cars in general or even a specific auto maker they will assume the dealerships that appear on the first page of Google, Yahoo or the other search engines are better dealerships than those that do not.

  • Tips and Hints

Website Content is ImportantMany auto dealership websites have little text content and lots of images.  If your site is set up right you can still rank well but it is always a good idea to have text.  This can come in the form of vehicle comparisons, reviews and more.

PPC - #1 is Not Always Best
To maximize your marketing budget keep in mind that your PPC ad should never be listed as #1 in the search results.  The highest ROI placement is typically in ads listed between #3 and #6.
